Spring/Summer 08 Fashion Trends

Now that the festive season has officially skidaddled, and I've sufficiently nursed my blisters following my annual attempt at breaking the land speed record as I scoured the high-street sales... I thought now, would be a nice time for a post festivities, pre new season trend alert.

Feathers & Bows!
Whether they come attached to a snuggly winter woolly or dashed around the hemline of your new year's eve frock, the feather is king. If you're not quite bold enough to wear your plumage with pride then perhaps add a tasteful peacock or other feather to a handbag... be creative but be careful of overdoing it and looking like something out of the good housekeeping bible circa 1973.

Wide Legs
Yes I know they've been swinging around a while now but they are set to stay with us well into the next season or two. there is also little need to go too mad over the super high waist as this does seem to have been a fairly fleeting trend, rather stick with just on the hips with good tailoring, throw on a flouncu blouse with a pussy bow and wahey you're set.

Prince ahem... I mean prints
leopard-print Bold, animal, bright, abstract B&W silk dresses and tunics as well as jackets and shoes!

Grunge
Yes it's back, floaty floral dresses, socks and shoes and grandad's cardigan. oh you might want to forego the shower for a while and forget fresh and sleek hair. Grease it up baby. The key to being fashionably grungy however is to achieve the look whilst maintaining good levels of hygiene. A bit of backcombing, wax and the odd laddered tight should do the job nicely.
Done well this can be a really pretty look, if you go too rock you can end up looking more courtney love (the bad old days) If rock is your bag perhaps you should stick to the more punky goth look.

Long Socks
Over the knee, under the knee, woolly, opaque chunky and thin they're all in of course this is a trend solely for the cold weather so get them now and strut your funky stuff with block heels or knee high boots.

Also keep a beady one out for jodhpurs which have been trying to flaps their fabric wasting way back into fashion for a while now... you've been warned.

No, I don't want to look like I'm wearing my clothes for a joke thank you! The 1980's has long since been described as the worst decade for fashion for good reason... leave it aaaat
