How To Make Real Money Online
The bottom line is that it's going to take some work. Not only do all good things come to those who wait but anything worth having is worth working for. Any more adages??

Firstly I'll list the main ways in which you can start generating an online income. My list isn't exhaustive but I have listed what I see as the most realistic and indeed legal ways to make money online.

Emails and Surveys
Forget reading emails, filling out surveys and clicking banners unless you have around 18 hours a day free and have a hankering to get carpal tunnel syndrome. Yes it is true you can earn money this way but really it will be nothing more than a few pennies per month and in my opinion you can spend your time in far more lucrative endeavors.

If you do tend to read your emails every day and have the time to sift through a few more then sure you could try somewhere like Mutual Points you earn points by clicking on links in emails or for taking up offers as well as bonuses on purchases. For example if you signed up with Sky they are currently giving you £50 in points, which can then be sent to you as a cheque for real money! Ipoints is another similar point based earning system.

Agloco
Agloco is a new system, set up to help its users earn revenue from advertising via use of a viewbar. In essence the viewbar (when activated) monitors the hours you spend surfing and translates that into cash for you. Read more at the agloco site here

As for surveys, I would only bother with one or two as surveys can take up to 10 minutes to complete and stick to recognized companies such as You-Gov. Others include Test & Vote, which also has product testing, Global Opinion Panel ad infinitum.

If you do decide to sign up, make sure you join Mutual Points or I Points first as you can earn big points for signing up to these research companies. You can earn points for a lot of things so if you do your shopping online or perhaps plan on changing your electricity supplier or want an insurance quote, all of these things come with big points rewards.

Also do yourself a favour and unless you type faster than superman can pick his nose, then don't waste your time on home based administrative work. These jobs are not quite scams but like the stuffing envelopes crap, you will be doing far more work than the measly payout deserves... don't bother!

Ok so what will make me money?

E-Commerce
Quite simply, selling your wares, whether you sell bric-a-brac on ebay or set up your own online store this is the most obvious way to start an your enterprise online. This could be as simple as selling eBooks (see below for more), home made products such as jewellery or cosmetics or investing in a franchise or other business opportunity. I wouldn't like to profess to know it all so take a look at the resources below if you're serious about starting a business. Also take a look around our Business page as it has a load of great resources for information or simply ideas.

Blogging
Ok so you won't earn money simply by giving your opinion on blogsites but there is definitely money to be made if you have a lot to talk about. Choose a subject which will engage others, something you are passionate about. I say this because there are far too many empty blogs out there set up with the sole purpose to generate money. Sure in theory, if you set up 200 blogs, throw some PPC (Pay Per Click) advertising on them, providing people click on the ads, you will make money.

The key there is that you need to get people to click, to get people to click you need to get people there in the first place. Now I'm not the most patient person in the world but there's nothing shifts my mouse pointer to the big red x quicker that a crappy page with no content and a boat load of google ads... you know the type.

So in short, the only way to make money this way is to have a good subject which will engage visitors, good promotion to find new visitors and updated regularly with fresh content to keep your visitors coming back.

Of course it would be foolish not to then add some advertising to this, if you set up your ad units carefully and target them to your audience then the advertising which appears will be relevant and of potential interest to visitors which is not a bad thing.

If you are looking to host PPC ads on your blog or website the main players are Google Adsense, BidVertiser and AdBrite.

Advertising and Affiliates
Basically Affiliates pay you for sending them customers. If you have a website or blog (and some visitors/traffic) then you can sign up to affiliate schemes and make some money for every sale generated through you. For example, on this site you will see adverts. If say you clicked on the USwitch advert and went on to change your energy supplier, I would stand to earn a commission. These commissions range from a few pence to £50+ depending on the size of the sale. Not to be sniffed at eh?

Granted some people may think stuff that I'm not helping you earn money but most people don't see a problem helping the little guy earn a few coppers, especially when it doesn't cost them a penny.

Most large companies have their own affiliates team and will deal directly with web publishers. Others will go through a third party site. These can be useful as once you have registered you can browse through the many categories of advertisers and take your pick. There are often criteria which your website or blog must meet, such as be a valid page i.e. not error 404.

Some examples of affiliate networks are: Commission Junction where you'll find advertisers such as eBay. Trade Doubler, Buy.at, Affiliate Futures, and Clickbank the list goes on. You can also run Auction Ads or Amazon ads alongside your affiliate links. Have a read through forums and see what other people recommend.

Ebooks
These can be sold on ebay, via Payloadz, through your own website or bookstore (you can download free ebook store templates and set up your own ebook store). There are also a hell of a lot of ebooks you can download for free, most can be downloaded for free see (floodle) for example. eBooks really only sell on ebay for pennies anyway.
An eBook store done well with extensive and updated resources could have potential but seems like a lot of effort for a could be to me. If you are interested in setting up your own E-book store, you can download a free store template and set up a PayLoadz account which will enable you to use your Paypal account to create an automated payment and delivery service on your site. You can also use ebooks as a good customer loyalty and membership tool and offer them for free to your members.

Forex Trading I've only just come across this particular subject so I won't try to sound informed however there does seem to be a lot of people making money this way so I'll be listing a few resources and places of interest shortly. See here for a short article full of insider's secrets.

The bottom line is that if like me you want to make some money online in your spare time with as little effort and financial outlay as possible then there are a few golden rules

1 NEVER spend more than you are comfortable, if you're not sure, don't spend it. Realistically you can set up all of the above with £0.

2 Don't be a Mug - No millionaire will ever give you their hard earned secrets period! Whether they say they will or not, ask yourself is this just a clever marketing gimick or do I really believe that this "guru" has made money in any way other than from scamming suckers out of their hard earned with hopes of a golden manuscript full of secret formulas to success?

3 Have passion - if making money was easy, everyone would be rich. You will find hard times, information overload, lack of enthusiasm and confidence slumps. As long as you have pthe passion and conviction behind your idea you WILL continue and achieve your goal. Otherwise don't bother

Like I said I am no authaurity on this or any subject for that matter but if this information helps some of you or just makes you think before throwing your hard earned at some internet scammer than it's worth it.

Good luck and please send me your success stories or post them on the our money blog here
