BRAClever Undies
Conveniently timed for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an egg-head at the University of Bolton, England has come up with the idea of a "Smart Bra".

It's not often that we see gadgetry designed for the female body, usually it will be in the shape of, and something I'd rather not go into here.

Now as a woman... with breasts, I welcome the idea of a bra with brains, ideally something which will cup my mounds like a gentle lover at the same time as giving them a gravity defying lift. The Smart Bra, however will not enhance your assets, nor will it make your bra wearing experience any more enjoyable, rather it is a device invented to detect breast cancer. The idea behind the smart bra is that In the future, detecting cancer in breasts could be as simple as putting on your underwear in the morning, then plugging in for a quick assessment.

Although I do see the development of this technology as positive, I'm not sold on the idea of it being an everyday undergarment. What if it beeps while I'm at the gym or in the dentist. It also seems that the whole point of developing this as a bra would be to make checking your lady lumps less of a chore and be more part of a daily routine. I imagine an under garment of such genius would not be cheap so unless they start giving them out free with 10 tokens from Tampax, I'll pass. What do you think? Give your opinion here

jottSomething for the Lazy
Love to communicate but tired of aching thumbs, repetitive strain injury or just plain lazy?

Well this might just be the answer. Jott is a mobile message taking service which allows you to send emails and text messages to whomever you please (providing you have their contact details) using the power of speech.

The process works thus: You call Jott with a message you wish to broadcast, Jott transcribes this speech and sends it via text and or email to your chosen recipient. Simple.

I haven't tested the service, so I can't tell you whether messages are transcribed fully and correctly, I find it hard to understand some people so who knows what an electronic secretary would make of it. Anyway, it looks like it is only available in the US at the moment (October '07), but it's only a matter of time before it hit's the UK & Europe shores.

pink_nuviPissed Off with PINK!
OK, so a well used highlight of pink can go a long way, but why the blue blazes do marketing guru's and new product development whizz's insist on everything they market to females being PINK?

I know there are some of you ladies out there who relish the prospect of any new gadget coming out in your favourite Barbie friendly hue, but surely all women don't respond with an open purse to this colour. Not only does this further enforce the generalisation that all women are pink and fluffy but it ticks me off.

Now that I've got that off my chest and while on the subject of the female pound, Garmin have just launched a new Nuvi aimed at the fairer sex and guess what.... it's pink! It's a GPS device, made by Garmin and I'm afraid that's all I have to say on the matter. P.S they also do black. Surely GPS device makers should take a leaf out of the mobile phone makers book and make interchangeable skins, after all choice is what we want... am I wrong? Have your say here
